The MSDT Prep package has been developed with advancement in mind. It allows new PADI Instructors who have just completed their PADI Instructor Exam to take the next step toward the PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer rating.
On the MSDT prep package, you will combine doing 5 (or more) PADI Specialty Instructor courses with team teaching with PADI Instructors and earning your first certifications.
Duration
The total program time depends on how long you would like to stay team-teaching with PADI Instructors and gaining experience.
The “prep” side of the MSDT prep is done over 4 days with workshops with the PADI Course Director and presentations from Specialty Instructor candidates. These presentations will be both in the classroom and the ocean.
Who is it For?
The course is open to PADI Open Water Scuba Instructors.
Course Outline
All of the PADI Specialties will require pre-study of the relevant PADI Specialty Instructor outline.
For each specialty there will be:
- A PADI Course Director-led Specialty Instructor workshop going over:

- Structuring and preparing for the PADI Specialty Course
- Specialty Course Standards Review
- Specialist equipment required
- Teaching techniques and tips
- Marketing the PADI Specialty Diver Course

- Candidates will give a knowledge development teaching presentation (similar to the ones they did on the PADI IDC) from each PADI Specialty Instructor course they are taking.
- Candidates will take part in in-water workshops related to the specific skills you will be teaching as part of the PADI specialty instructor courses they are taking that require dives.
For the Team-Teaching module. You will work with an experience PADI Instructor planning, and teaching a dive course. On each course the PADI Instructor will give you more and more responsibility. You will have the opportunity to work with different PADI Instructors and learn about different teaching styles. And earn your first teaching certifications at the same time.

- PADI Guide to Teaching
- Any of the PADI Specialty student-level materials that you have.

- PADI MSDT Prep – $449
- PADI Specialty Instructor Application – £44/spec (£220 for 5 specialties)
- PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer application (after 25 certs) – £81
In some cases where MSDT prep is included in IDC packages then only the application fees are required.
